Welcome to Fashion Club’s Sketchbook. Ever wonder what “real” Fashion Design sketches look like?

The following images are designs created by FIDM’s Film & TV Costume Design students. Some of these students did not even know how to draw before they came to FIDM, and look at them now!

Meghan Wincor

FIDM student Meghan Wincor’s long white plush cutaway coat has a matching garter and is lined with panels of netting and flowered fabric, which reappears on the coat’s cuffs. The super-short turquoise miniskirt has pleating, and the corset-like bodice of the outfit is covered with rust organza. To top it all off, Meghan puts thigh-his over fishnet hose.

Steven Cho

FIDM student Steven Cho’s pantsuit is up to the minute! The jacket has one button at the bust, tapers at the waist, and is accented with broad lapels, two patch pockets, and lots of decorative stitching. The wide-legged pants have decorative stitching, inserts of fuchsia fabric, and criss-cross lacing at the waist, with a triple-strand dangling fuchsia belt. He tops his ensemble off with a double-brimmed black fedora trimmed in fuchsia, and fuchsia pumps.

Song: Hidden Place

Colleen Cahill

FIDM student Colleen Cahill designed two looks for Bjork’s song “Hidden Place.” The first is a 19th century-inspired dress with a corset top. The skirt is a long, window-pane stitched silk, with insets of sheer fabric, with panniers at the sides and black feathers attached to the fabric of the lower back of the dress.

Colleen Cahill

FIDM student Colleen Cahill’s second design for Bjork’s song “Hidden Place” consists of a long, one-sleeved turtleneck of beige netting and a long, ultra-full skirt of a black-and-red patterned fabric. As you can see, the top is completely sheer and the skirt is textured. Colleen tops off her costume with a bi-color feather mask.
