Merchandise Marketing

Could you be a . . . Merchandise Marketer?

Do you seem to know what's going to be "in" ten minutes before anyone else does? When it comes to fashion trends, do you have a "sixth sense"? If so, you might find happiness as a Merchandise Marketer!

A Merchandise Marketer is involved in the wholesale or retail marketing, buying, or sales of a product or a product line. What's needed? A keen understanding of future trends and your target market.

Look at some of the great careers you can have with a degree in Merchandise Marketing from FIDM:

A Multi-Channel Retail Buyer decides what the rest of us will be buying each season. You'll travel to see the season's fashion lines and purchase new merchandise to be sold in retail stores, catalogs, and on websites.

A Brick & Mortar Retail Manager is the head of a retail store. You'll hire, train, and manage employees. You'll work with senior management and buyers to make sure the store merchandise is presented well, and work to increase sales in the store.

A Planning Analyst plans for the growth and success of a store. You'll track sales and make sure the store's best-selling merchandise is in stock. You'll develop action plans for each department based on trends, competition, and seasons.

A Showroom Manager manages a merchandise showroom, which is where the products are presented to buyers. You'll oversee the presentation of the merchandise and prepare the showroom for special events.

A Merchandise Coordinator is a major link in the retail clothing chain. You'll keep the flow of merchandise running smoothly between the manufacturers and the retail stores. You'll make sure that all the products are well-marketed to increase sales and build brand image.
