International Manufacturing & Product Development

Could you be an . . . International Manufacturer & Product Developer?

Do you spot a trend on the street and somehow know it's going to explode? Do you keep track of what people are wearing in Tokyo, Paris, and L.A.? If so, you could make it as an International Manufacturer & Product Developer.

An International Manufacturer & Product Developer is involved in the manufacture of goods and the development of products on a global basis. What's needed? The ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven industry; an understanding of diverse cultures, and an interest in international business.

Here are some of the great careers you could have with a degree in International Manufacturing & Product Development:

A Merchandiser is the true Product Developer, and uses worldwide resources to translate trends into products that meet the needs of a target market. You'll be responsible for product development from concept through production to the final marketing of the product.

A Trend Analyst shops for trends globally and analyzes their influence on future markets, and provides this information to the merchandising team.

A Fabric & Trim Buyer is responsible for researching the manufacturers who can supply the best product for your price range and market, and does costing, sourcing, and buying fabrics and trims with domestic and international companies.

A Product Development Coordinator works on a team that is responsible for product development "concept through conception" for a specific target market.

An Import/Export Coordinator handles all phases of import resources and exporting finished product. You'll become familiar with trade laws and international cultures and customs.
