Interior Design
Could you be an . . . Interior Designer?
Do you walk into a room and immediately notice what's off-kilter? Do you shop for bedroom decorations rather than shoes? If so, you may have the makings of an Interior Designer!
An Interior Designer determines the look of an interior space: wall, window, and floor treatments; choice of furniture and lighting; and minor or major architectural changes. What's needed? Exquisite taste, a keen color sense, and professional training.
Look at some of the great careers you can have with a degree in Interior Design from FIDM:
An Interior Designer determines how an interior space will look. You'll choose wall, window and floor treatments, furniture and lighting for the space. You may also make architectural changes or work with other elements such as art, housewares, etc.
A Space Planner creatively draws how a particular interior space will be organized. You'll generally work with Interior Designers or architectural firms.
A Project Manager is responsible for managing large projects. You'll hire Interior Designers, Space Planners, and other consultants to complete various parts of a big job. You'll have the opportunity to get involved with many aspects of Interior Design and work with many different kinds of people.
An Architectural Renderer is the artist who creates the beautiful drawings that are submitted to clients for approval of big interior design projects. This career combines the fine art skill of drawing with an understanding of tasteful Interior Design.
There's no place on earth like FIDM to study Interior Design because at FIDM, you'll learn about all aspects of interior design, not just decoration; Interior Design companies give FIDM the same samples the industry uses on their own projects; and FIDM's studios, equipment, and computer facilities are modeled after design industry standards!
