Fashion Design
Could you be a . . . Fashion Designer?
Do you doodle fashion ideas in your spare time? Have a full wardrobe of funky outfits . . . for your dog? Do you love putting clothes together in new ways? You may have what it takes to be a Fashion Designer!
What's needed? The ability to be a creative problem solver and the ability to communicate fresh ideas with the technical skills to execute them.
Look at some of the great careers you could have with a degree in Fashion Design from FIDM:
A Fashion Designer determines each season's hottest fashions. You'll need to stay on top of trends and have a strong sense of shape and color.
A Technical Designer works closely with designers and manufacturers to figure out the best way to produce a garment to fit a particular market and cost.
A Design Merchandiser is the person who decides the direction of a fashion line. You'll travel to fashion markets and work closely with designers and manufacturers to make sure their collections follow current fashion trends.
An Assistant Designer/Pattern Maker is a Fashion Designer's right-hand person. You'll translate original sample garments into paper pattern pieces and create the patterns that are used to mass-produce garments.
